2CUBES

Multi-user interaction with 2 AR interfaces for live performance

ARCube is an Augmented Reality (AR) interface that enables the duo to manipulate the sounds of their own musical instruments live. By connecting the instruments with virtual elements, they create an immersive spatial sound experience. The VR headsets used in this setup offer a new form of performance, allowing the audience to experience the concert through the musicians' eyes.

Hyunkyung Shin (double bass) and Henrik von Coler (live electronics) from the School of Music at Georgia Institute of Technology (USA) present a new concept in which musicians can extend their real instruments through augmented reality (AR) interfaces. The audience can view the duo's perspective through a projection, making the virtual objects visible to everyone. Another key part of this concert is the Nebula Euphone, an instrument that will be played live by its developer, Markus Müller while being integrated into the electronic soundscape through the AR interfaces.
