3D Box
Immersive Audio System with 28 Loudspeakers

3D Box is a new facility at Georgia Tech’s School of Music, located within the Rich Computer Center. It serves as an experimental workshop designed for projects in interactive performance, digital media, virtual reality, spatial design, and research. The studio is equipped with a Neumann 3D loudspeaker array integrated with a custom spatial rendering system, along with a flexible Jack network system that allows for seamless multi-input connections using Ambisonics. External devices can connect via USB or DANTE, providing adaptability for various interactive and immersive applications.
3D Box was my primary project as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Lab for Interaction and Immersion, supervised by Dr. Henrik von Coler. I played a key role throughout the project, including designing the truss system for speaker placement and support structures for spatial audio implementation, managing cable routing for audio wiring, implementing PoE support for Dante, and calibrating speaker positions and angles to integrate the L42i spatial rendering system. Additionally, I managed construction schedules and team coordination. The outcomes of this project were showcased at Georgia Tech's Spring Demo Day in 2024.
