Faded Memories

Modular Synth x DSP

Faded Memories is an electroacoustic piece that is an exploration of the famous Modular Synthesis and DSP Techniques and sounds inspired by the work of Morton Subotnick. In the opening, one hears the classic analog synth bell devolving into complex enharmonic textures, interrupted by FM noise bursts and clangorous drones. The work is meant to comment on the chaos associated with the ultra-political nature of the avant-garde artist’s collective. The piece features the sound of an analog synthesizer and combines the ambient sound of the species with various DSP techniques to create a scene, which is a static, distorted, abandoned, faded, and forgotten side of memory. The song sets the space as an already erased past, sublimates the pain of the past through reminiscence, and reaches the realization of the present.
